GKD mesh: Combined know-how in the water sector

At the world's leading trade fair for environmental technology, the IFAT 2016 from 30 May to 3 June in Munich, GKD – GEBR. KUFFERATH AG will be presenting attractive new developments for the water and wastewater management sector. In view of its all-round competence as a solutions provider regarding the treatment of all kinds of ballast water, municipal wastewater and industrial process water, GKD is a sought-after expert all over the world.

Separation rates in the micro-filtration range down to 10 µm qualify optimised plain dutch weaves (ODW) in filter discs or filter segments as all-rounders for a multitude of applications in water processing. Their special pore structure guarantees precision filtration and high dirt-holding capacity combined with a very low flow resistance. Low tendency to clog and easy cleanability are further features which increase the economic advantage of using these meshes in micro-sceening. At the IFAT, GKD will be showcasing a spectacular further development of this mesh type: the flow-optimised ODW6. Thanks to advanced weaving technology, the pores have been reduced to achieve a reliable separation rate of just 6µm, and that at excellent throughput rates and a minimal pressure loss coefficient.

For process water filtration with a specified separation rate down to 80 µm, GKD’s MAXFLOW Belt Filter is a tried and tested solution. Thanks to its self-cleaning endless stainless steel mesh belt, it eliminates the need for consumables like paper belts, and the expense and environmental strain involved in their disposal.

For mechanical dewatering of sewage sludge, GKD will be presenting a novel mesh type called Speed-Drain, which combines the properties of a pre-dewatering press belt with those of a robust filter belt mesh. Considerably more – but smaller – mesh openings significantly increase dewatering performance and particle retention rate. The considerably higher dry matter content (DM) in the dewatered sludge makes a significant contribution to greater efficiency in the whole treatment process at sewage plants. A substantial boost in profitability is also promised by GKD’s process belt meshes with an integrated wear indicator. Contrast-coloured interior wires provide early warning of mechanical abrasion, thus enabling damage to the belt and unplanned stoppages with expensive production downtimes to be avoided. With its world-leading weaving technology, state-of-the-art simulation technology and decades of accumulated expertise in consulting and engineering, GKD is sure to be a sought-after partner at the IFAT for discussions on all aspects of water treatment.
